This thread is swelling alarmingly in manner of a tropical mosquito bite or similar!
  12. colonesque10 New Member

Even though we've got some top bands at the mo i'd still have to say 'The Beatles' or 'Queen' :)

  23. Saccharissa Stitcher

New Order *headbangs to 'Slow Jam'*

  25. fudgecake New Member

Have you heard "Tribute" by Tenacious D? That song rocks so hard. :D "All of a sudden, there shined a shiny demon in the middle of the road. And he said 'Play the best song in the world, or I'll eat your soul.'"
  26. Mooseman New Member

Daft Punk are the coolest for me atm. I'm Downlaoding all thier stuff.
  27. fudgecake New Member

I also like blink 182. But they've split up now :(
  29. Mooseman New Member

So quite the Emo/Goth choice there.. but i noticed MCR or Nightwish arent in it  ?

And i never knew Blink had broken up.. Oh well
  30. Toaf New Member

  31. sleepy_sarge New Member

lol Toaf - up until now I've been congratulating myself on knowing 99% of the bands listed here. You just blew that out of the water!!

    *suddenly feels ancient*

edited to remove surplus L because I'm not Welsh
  32. fudgecake New Member

Or from Llamedos, like Imp y Celyn. :D
  33. Toaf New Member

don't worry Sarge - i have no idea what most of the people here in this thread are talking abou... er...

  34. sleepy_sarge New Member

    Edited - point taken Garner!
  35. Garner Great God and Founding Father

    Personal request...

Please don't talk about downloading copyrighted material, gang.
  36. Dane New Member

I know it suscks. I think it's because Travis (the drummer) signed a deal with MTV to do a reality TV programme called "at home with the barkers"

I haven't watched it yet but it's meant to be good. Anyway reality TV destroyed the band (see! I told you, reality TV with be the death of us all).

Mark and Tom have now joined a band called "box car racers" there pretty good, a little heavier than Blink. Travis has gone to another band, but it sucks and I don't know the name.

anyway. MCR are good and I do like them but there way to over-rated. the lead singer if a big headed twat aswell. I'v heard of nightwish but never heard any of their music.

A few people have told me that I would like HIM. Before anyone suggests them I think they suck. there just so melodramatic. How a band can be melodramatic useing music I don't know but they've managed it.
  37. hermes New Member

Bands? Hmm. I absolutely love Paris Combo. The Pillows, too. Excluding them, it's mostly non band type music for me.
  38. Cynical_Youth New Member

Okay, thinking about it some more I've decided it's list time!

    Revis
    Seether
    Chevelle
    Submersed
    Tool
    A Perfect Circle
    The Exies
    Switchfoot

Submersed is my favourite at the moment, you can listen to most of their songs here.
  39. Marcia Executive Onion

I don't have a best band, but part of a general list of very good bands.
(I'm only mentioning ones that I don't think were mentioned already.)

    Blue Oyster Cult
    Nirvana
    Lou Reed/Velvet Underground
    The Kinks
    Heart
  40. Delphine New Member

Hummm, the eternal question. I don't know how many times i've tried to answer this. The answer always changes.

Muse are the best band around at the moment. The Beatles were the best band ever.

I also really like Led Zepplin, Thin Lizzy, Hendirx, Rammstien, Kaiser Chiefs, Jack Johnson, Lynrd Skynrd, Gorillaz, (their new album is excellent) Nirvana, Eric Clapton, Leftfield...

    Some oddments:

Jacques Loussier, who recreates Baroque classics as mellow jazz. Which sounds odd, but is super :)

And my dad recently bought Dub Side Of The Moon... it's Dark Side of the Moon, totally re-done in reggae style. What Garner called "stoner music". Once, again, brilliant
  41. Electric_Man Templar

Best new bands (ie debuted in the last year) for me are Bloc Party, The Bravery and The Killers (if they scrape through on the year thing).

Otherwise? Radiohead and Coldplay are probably my two most listened to bands, which makes them my favourites.

On the 'bands most people probably haven't heard of' scale, I also like Grandaddy, Kashmir and Lemonjelly in particular.
  42. Orrdos God

    Placebo!
  43. Rincewind Number One Doorman

    SPICE GIRLS!
  44. sleepy_sarge New Member

    Not the Monkees then?
  45. Rincewind Number One Doorman

hey hey we're the monkees, and people say we monkey around
But we're to busy luaghing to but anybody down

I do like them and thier show was great.
  46. TheJackal Member

Best Band Of All Time: Queen or U2.
They both have unbelieveable back catalogues

My Favourite Bands At The Moment:
    The Killers,
    Keane,
    Kaiser Chiefs,
    System Of A Down,
    Damien Rice.

I've seen all of my current favourites in concert, except System
  47. Andalusian New Member

Agreed, and not just because I have a thing for boys in eyeliner.
  48. Jinxted New Member

    Bay City Rollers

    Hands down bestest Band ever!
Now I'm gonna wander off and sober up.
  49. Toaf New Member

bye bye baby, don't make me cry... bye baby bye bye...
  50. Hex New Member

Hey, there is no shame in liking boys in eyeliner!! Though I agree, it's not the only reason to love placebo. Or Green Day. Or Nirvana, come to that.

I can't choose the bestest band in the world, but I have many contenders who constantly fill my playlists:

    Queen
    Green Day
    Nirvana
    Muse!
    Velvet Revolver
    Placebo
    American Hi Fi
    Gorillaz
    Marilyn Manson
No Doubt (and some of Gwen Stefani's solo work)
    Kaiser Chiefs
    Jimi Hendrix
    Bryan Adams
    Foo Fighters
    Jet
    Scissor Sisters
    My Chemical Romance
    Red Hot Chili Peppers
    The White Stripes

Don't make me choose. I'll cry and be sad like Bob. :(
  51. Andalusian New Member

Noo!!! They, along with the other horrible pop-punk and pop-emo out there at the moment, should be on a list of the worst bands, not the best. :( < me when forced to listen to Green Day or MCR.

Another bestest band that I really like is Ministry. Really good industrial stuff. Big influence on more mainstream bands like Nine Inch Nails.
  52. Ivan_the_terrible New Member

    Ludwig rocks. :)

    My favourite:

    The Doors,
    The Who,
    The Velvet Underground,
    R.E.M.,
    Loving Spoonful,
    Joe Cocker,
    Hendrix,
    The Smiths,
    Blur,
    Pulp,
    The Killers,
    Eddie Cochrane,
    Simon & Garfunkel,
    Troggs,
    Zombies,
    Animals.

    Splean (Russian)
    Nautilus Pompilius (Russian)
    Vopli Vidoplasova (Ukrainan)

Am I the only Genesis fan here?
  55. sleepy_sarge New Member

If it's the Peter Gabriel incarnation then I will timidly admit to being one also.

But not the Phil Collins one - no thanks!
  56. queenynci New Member

Peter was a bit deep for me sometimes, still bloody good though!
I prefer the earlier Collins stuff, especially And Then There Were Three.
I must admit, not really fond of the new line-up
  57. colonesque10 New Member

I forgot to add that Queen and the Beatles are only my favourite bands if were not taking into account the mighty McFly, of course. :)
  58. Delphine New Member

Firth of Fifth! What a fucking incredible song! Was it the PC version of Genesis you meant? ;)
  59. queenynci New Member

If by PC you mean Phil Collins, Delphine, yes -thats' my era.
Discussing Genesis can be a bit like talking about Dr Who- everyones got their own favourite!
