TALENTED Edwinstowe author Andrew Fish is celebrating this week after his first novel finally appeared in print.
Three years after completing the time travel comedy Erasmus Hobart and the Golden Arrow — which is based around the Robin Hood legend — Andrew's dreams have finally come true as the book has recently been published by UKA press.
Andrew (33) told Chad: "I wrote the book within a couple of months but it took a year to be accepted and the publishers then took another two years to put the novel into print."
The book follows the adventures of a Nottinghamshire school teacher who travels back in time to search for the truth behind the Robin Hood legend and finds that things are not quite as expected.
Said Andrew: "I wanted to set the book in history and thought it would be fun to have a time traveller which led me to base the book around Robin Hood."
Andrew says the quirky novel was inspired by writers Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams and will appeal to anyone who enjoys their work.
Erasmus Hobart and the Golden Arrow is Andrew's second book to be published after his political satire called Others was printed in 2001.
He has since written a string of novels, including his latest project Humble Pie - a satire based on a unscrupulous journalist.
In the future Andrew hopes to quit his job as a software engineer and become a full-time writer.
He added: "I enjoy the process of writing and I can't think of any better way to earn a living."
