1 Wyrd Sisters started on Friday but there are several shows left at Belconnen Theatre from Wednesday to Saturday at 7.30pm with a matinee on Saturday at 3pm. 2 The Wyrd Sisters are three witches - Nanny, Granny and Magrat, who come complete with wonderful wacky wigs and warts. 3 Terry Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters is the sixth novel in his popular Discworld series. 4 Discworld is flat, round and balanced on the back of four great elephants which stand on the back of a turtle named Great A'Tuin that floats through space. 5 The cast of Wyrd Sisters get plenty of fresh fruit, courtesy of the props person. Plastic apples simply don't look realistic when bitten into, and the eight-day season is a bit long to keep fruit. 6 Terry Pratchett visited Canberra in 2004 and was greeted by devoted fans at his book signings. 7 Royalties from rights to stage Terry Pratchett's play are not paid either to him or to Stephen Briggs, who adapted the book as a stage play.
Instead, money is paid to an orang-utan conservation foundation, which assists in rehabilitation of displaced animals in Malaysia and Indonesia. 8 Terry Pratchett sold a story when he was 13 and the proceeds enabled him to buy a second-hand typewriter. 9 Some costume items used in Tempo's production have come from the Australian Ballet and the Australian Opera. Burgundy fabric came from curtains which hung in the Albert Hall in Canberra. 1 0 For information about future Tempo Theatre productions check the web site, http://www.tempo.truenorth.net.au
