With comment on America's poor spelling abilities. :)
I can not attest to the quality of the Terry Pratchett movie ‘The Hogfather' from last year on Britain's SKY network. On the other hand, a Pratchett film being made is oh so sweet. It was honestly news to me that this had already been done, and it sounds to be a fair effort because they're doubling the budget and putting the original Discworld story to film. ‘The Colour of Magic,' complete with superfluous extra "u," is preparing to go into production.
Press in the UK reported that David Jason is set to play Rincewind. I have no idea who he is, so I can't say how I feel about him playing the failed wizard. He was in ‘The Hogfather,' and extra bonus points to voicing Danger Mouse should definitely be awarded. A tipster over at AintItCool also clued us in on an American who's been cast as Twoflower, Rincewind's companion. He hopes it's Steve Carrell, I have to agree that it fits with the character. Personally, I always associated Twoflower with Japanese tourists though. But yeah, an American tourist with no clue of his surroundings and what's really happening would work. I'm sure when I visited London I over tipped, although I don't recall parting with a pure gold Agatean coin.
There's no official word on any of this, and the Carrell item is the purest of speculation, but it'll be interesting to see how the story is handled. The book itself is almost a set of short stories with the same characters. As long as Pratchett's wit and humor remains intact, I'll seek this out.

Seems a strange choice if you ask me.
