Terry Pratchett's Discworld Collector's Edition Calendar 2009 is out, with the artwork pretty much along the same lines as this year's - as in brilliant. Paul Kidby, who we all know, features in the calendar - as does Stephen Player who some may recognise from the illustrated version of Wee Free Men and, for the very meticulous amongst us, the conceptual artwork for The Hogfather movie. There are in fact eleven artists who've contributed to the 2009 Discworld calendar (Stephen Player gets two months for reasons that are obvious if you buy it), all of them familiar apart from Angelo Rinaldi who is new to the sphere (ahem) of Discworld art.
Each of the artists bring something special of their own when interpreting the Discworld scenes. Though some may find the connection between the Discworld and the odd picture a little of a stretch, the calendar as a whole is a nice piece of work and well worth owning.
