or Time And Tide Wait For No One

A poem.
Tick tock
Under the clock tower
I wait for you
On the stones
The cobbles of the market square
Tick tock

Ding dong
Under the clock tower
Time is flying
And I stand alone
Still
On the cobbles
On the flags
Of market square

Hickory
I
Dickory
Know there must be
Dock
Something
Tick tock
Has gone wrong
Ding dong
Why aren’t you here by now?
The clock marches round
It doesn’t wait for you
Like I do
Fool
That I am

The mouse ran up the clock
And the stalls packed away
And the people went home
And the sun went to bed
And all nothing
But I am still here
Waiting

And it’s me and me
And no
You
Just the stars
And the clock
And the phonebox
And
Tick tock
My vigil
Still
The clock beats time
Marching round
With me
This cold air
And
Ding dong
My feet are cold
Under
Tick tock
The clock
Ding
Tower I wait
Dong
For you on
Hickory
The stones tick
Dickory
Tock
Dock
The clock marches round
On the rocks
I wait
Still
For you

The mouse flew away
With no starstones
The flags melt into one
No one’s picking up the phone
Ding dong
What makes you tick
Who makes me
Hickory dickory
Tock
Save me
Dock
Come on
I said come on
Please

Tick tock
Under the clock tower
I wait for you
Tick tock
Like a quickening heart the clock
Marches on
The stones
I cry
For you
Tick
