Parking tickets

My mother just called and said that we have to pay the parking ticket we got a few months ago in London, just as I thought we would. I wanted to pay it in the first place but she said she might be able to get it waived, but now they say I have to pay the full fee of £200 instead of the £50 if I'd paid right away. Wahoo!
