As a computer professional who has at times been responsible for keeping commercial communications systems running 24 hours a day, I am somewhat puzzled by the choice of Sunday afternoon to take down what is a receational site, and is thus most likely to have users wanting to go on line!

'Choice' didn't really come into it. The site had to be moved to a new server, it was switched off to avoid losing any new posts and switched back on again when the new server IP had propagated. Thanks for your kinds words though.

A tad harsh?

There's a key word in your post there Pixel: commercial. This site is not commercial, none of us users pay a penny towards its upkeep, it is run on a purely voluntary basis. Even if it had been a matter of choice for Mal, I (as a computer professional currently responsible for keeping websites running 24 hours a day) wouldn't even think to criticize in such a harsh way. Access to this site is a privilege, not a right. Mal does this in his spare time, and quite frankly I think he deserves thanks rather than insults...
