Did anyone ever figure out what happened to Tethis the water troll between "The Colour of Magic" and "The Light Fantastic"? It always annoyed me that his disappearance was never explained in some way.

The Discworld Companion admits that, and offers the following info:

"He briefly left the Disc with Twoflower and Rincewind and has not been heard of since. The Potent Voyager, the ship on which they reluctantly travelled, eventually landed in a lake near Skund. Presumably he is still there."
