Mine should be going out today then. I got a nice picture of the Estoril Beach, about 30 Km from Lisbon. Hello From Lisbon (Actually Estoril today) Portugal is really warm, 30ºC in September! No time to go to the Algarve, because we're off to the states. Minnesota to be exact. I hope the other postcards arrived on time, I heard there was a strike. LOVE, THE GOALPOSTS
I don't know. COuldn't the Goalposts end up back where they started after much faffing and committee meetings don't they usually end up in the same place anyway?
Has anything arrived yet Mr G.? Sorry, I've been out of circulation for the past couple of weeks. Update.. update.. update!
i think i'm supposed to send mine tomorrow, at least by the original time table. what sort of adjustments have been made thus far? i'm assuming i should wait a bit, until we hear what's going on for sure...
I think tamyra is up next, Plaid. You're going two days after Om. Sadly, I've yet to hear if *any* of the post cards have been received. Keep in mind that I'm based on a satelite campus and I've been trying very hard not to drop hints to colleagues at the main office. As I see it, the worst case scenarios at the moment are A) The cards haven't arrived due to postal strikes or other woes, or are being intercepted elsewhere in the University. B) The cards are being completely ignored by whoever sorts the post over there, being put straight in the bin, or otherwise nullified at the point of contact. Actually, there's a third worst case scenario: C) They're saving the cards up as evidence of me wasting time at work and are going to sack me over it despite you guys doing all the actual work involved in this. Best case scenario at present is that the cards are being received, marvelled at, and then word is not progressing outside of the main campus. To date I've only divulged the plot to two colleagues. only one of them is in a position to monitor the situation at the main office, and i've not directly asked her to nose around for me. I figure once the last card's been sent, I'll give it another week or so and then throw my hands in the air and start asking around if anyone ever saw the damned things.
mmm... 1st Office Peon: Ug! Somebody play joke on us. Pictures wiv scribbles on back. 2nd Office Peon: Ug! Scary fings from outside world. Put in bin. Put in bin. 1st Office Peon: Ug! Scary fings gone now. R.
If my card has been binned, I expect a full refund on time, effort and costs... Not my fault I had to take a stretched limo into town to buy a postcard, then a private jet to buy the stamp and drank a few bottles of 100 year-old whiskey on the way. No, I don't have receipts.
Pah! you certainly know who yer friends are... and you didn't even save me a glass. Kat, I would gladly have given you some receipts towards your 'claim' (albeit a bit dubious) just to smell the damn bottle corks. Signed A depressed whiskey drinker - Northeast England
Oh, so you've met [name removed to protect what little job security I have at this point] and [name removed to protect my physical wellbeing], have you?
I shall gladly reimburse you for the cost of one post card stamp. Tell you what, I'll post the cheque to you.
There's a mould* somewhere and they just keep getting manufactured. R. *Actually under my sink and I just cannot get to it. (This 'joke' was born from the fact that I could not convince myself that I should use 'Mould' rather than 'Mold' in this context. Now that I have been looking at these words for so long this morning that neither of them look correct.)
From: [Name removed] Sent: 07 October 2009 12:22 To: [Distribution list] Cc: [Distribution list 2 and 3] Subject: Curious as to whom Postcards are from....... Hi there, Have received a number of postcards addressed to us here at [Main Office] from someone signing off their name as “The Goalposts”. Can anyone shed any light on this? So far have put up about “5” of these cards in the Staff Room at [Office]. Would really love to know who it is! Regards [Name] --- Well done guys!
Ba spoke with Tamyra. She's had some things come up, but she'll try to have the card sent by Tuesday. Then Ba will send.
From a co-conspirator who works at the main office: "Ha Ha Ha I just read all the postcards dude, they are funny as I tell ya. There are 2 from Ireland one from Scotland one from hope cove and another from somewhere in the states too about 6 so far, all really informative about their movements so far and where they plan to go next. Real genius mate brilliant "
I'm wondering if the first couple were thrown away before they realised what was going on. Or they'll turn up sometime after Christmas.
Ah, but look at what he gained, Garner! Free food, free clothes, free housing, and the distant promise of higher wages sometime in the distant future. Take away the wages, and you have a Communist institution.
last i heard there were 7 cards on the wall at the main office. I've not been over there to check which ones. if plaid and om don't confirm their cards soonish, then we skip them and move on to the next person on the list whoever that was
I will send it tomorrow or Friday so the mormon and the hindu chick have two days to get their act together as my card will take a while to arrive...
sorry! i've been too busy to buy stamps. what a lame excuse, eh? you can skip me. maybe i'll throw mine in later? maybe....
Card sent 18/12/09 I sent mine on Friday. I did not scan it because the only place I can get postcards is downtown and the only post office open outside my working hours is downtown, so I favoured speed over scanning it. Lipi, you are up next.
That's a sentance I will remember for the rest of my days! Sorry guys, I've been hijacked by a rural mountain town with no wi-fi and little spare time at the office. I will try to participate in online life more often. I miss all of you.
