Hans Beck has died. "Who?" You say?

Well, he was the inventor of Playmobil.

I didn't know his name, but I spent most of my childhood dividing my attention between his inventions and the huge box of Lego.

I guess getting older means your childhood heroes (in the broadest sense of the word here) pass on.

Didn't have any of those new fangled toys when I was a kid.

We had those, and I loved them. So many people seem to be dying of late! RIP, Mr Beck.

I never had any, it was Lego all the way for me. Still, RIP Mr beck, a truly great invention...
  5. Joculator The 'Old' Fool

My era was Meccano all the way... But I remember young nephews and nieces playing for hours with the things.
A great invention by a great man.

Oh, playmobil. We were kind of torn between a sad  and a silly but guilty giggle because of the mental images of a playmo burial that kept crossing our minds.
