There is now an Instant Messenger for anyone to use if they wish. You can see it by clicking on the words 'Instant Messenger' at the top of the Discworld Fans Online block on the front page.

It may well be little used, like the chatrooms, but it's there anyway if anyone needs it.

If, when you click the IM link, only a bank white box appears, click it again and it should be fine.

If you're using Firefox and it asks you to install a pugin, either install the plugin or disable the message noise in your options and the request should go away.

Where it says Online Now: near the bottom of the Discworld Fans Online block, a little green person appears next to your name if you are in the IM - though it takes a minute or so to disappear if you have left.
