How do I submit writing? [i:f8fc4b5967]Edit: What goes in the story text box, and what goes in the extended text box?[/i:f8fc4b5967]

And how will I be notified when someone else submits writing? (You're going to tell me that I have to physically look again, aren't you?)

Edit 2, to clarify my questions further:

I want to submit some poetry. Under "Title", do I put the title of the poem or do I put eg 'Poem by Buzzfloyd'? And which box does the actual text of the poem go in? And if the title is 'Poem by Buzzfloyd', where do I put the poem's actual title?

If I want to post boardfic, will I be able to post additional chapters appended to the same piece after submitting?

The story box is for your lead in text (first paragraph or whatever), though you could put everything in there if you like but it's better not to as you'll see next, unless it's very short...

The extended text bit is for the rest of your story, when you put stuff in this box your first bit appears on the front page and you see the rest (this bit) by clicking 'Click to Read Full Story', which will then display the whole thing together, as if you'd put it all in the same box. This takes up less space on the front page, lets other people's stories be seen easier and also gives you a record of how many people have read your story by clicking to read the full text.

All new submissions appear on the front page of the site, the last ten stories I think.

You can put the title of your work in the title box, it's what appears in bold at the top of a story - see front page for eg. It will automatically have your username at the beginning of the text.

You can't edit your story yourself once you submit it, but it can be alterted later if you want by me, or by someone who is made an admin of stories.

I posted some writing there today but the font size is very small and hard on the eyes to read. There is a list of allowed HTML but changes in font size doesn't seem to be allowed.

So can we make font size, size 12 or 14 maybe? I'd say that would be large enough

If you press the printer icon when viewing the full story the text is much bigger, does that help?

P.S. I think I can make the story text a bit bigger though, I'll have to look into it.

Mal, I have a question about how to insert an image into a story, as I now have two of them in [i:c3531cd4a9]2001[/i:c3531cd4a9]. Is it just a question of uploading them to a website and writing <img>insert url here</img>?

Sort of, apart from you have to use HTML code:

[code:1:4a93d6af52]<img src="http://www.pictures.com/images/buzzfloyd.jpg" width="100" height="100" align="left" border="2" title="buzzfloyd" alt="buzzfloyd">[/code:1:4a93d6af52]
[list:4a93d6af52]width and height have to match your picture's dimensions

align = how you want the picture to appear in relation to the text wherever you put it - the options are, left, right, top, bottom, middle.

border= the amount of white space around the picture, 2 should be fine. (this one is optional, could leave it out entirely)

title= the text that appears when you run your mouse over the picture.

alt= the text that appears in place of the picture if your browser can't/wont display the picture. (often mistaken for the above due to a glitch in Internet Explorer)[/list:u:4a93d6af52]

For anyone who doesn't want to do this you can send me the picture, or upload it to your album, and tell me where you want to put it in your story and I'll do the rest.

Edit: to change anytone to anyone.

Mal, is it possible, within this site, to link to the pictures in the albums?

I ask because when I was doing the lookalike of Sleepy Sarge, I had to copy it from the album then host it myself to get it on the page

Ella: Star Trek?

I think it is as long as you click on the actual image in the album then get the address by right clicking on it like this one:

http://www.terrypratchettbooks.org/g...&pic_id=20

I can't get image tags to work in my posts at the moment though to test it properly.

Nah, I tried that, all I get is:

Presumably it wants something that is an actual jpg or suchlike.

edit: trying html:
<img src="http://www.terrypratchettbooks.org/gate.html?name=Forums&file=album_pic&pic_i d=20" alt="Ugly git"></a>
