I wonder if we need to have a few moderators right away in case a few nasties show up before we get around to voting?

I'd like to suggest in no particualr order: Rincewind, Garner, Doors, Buzzfloyd, Ba and maybe myself?

Hopefully no one should have any problems with the above list, apart from Garner (who didn't accept nomination the first time, but I believe it would be silly to leave out now) they were all voted tops last time. We can still have the elections and these don't have to be above any future voting; they just seem like obvious choices right now when we don't have any moderation, which is why we came here I think.

If this is a bad idea please say so here, this is only my opinion and I have not talked to anyone else about it.

Just to clarify my status so people aren't confused: I put this site together and use an account by the name of Astroman to admin the site as a whole, but Astroman has no domain over these message boards as such, there is no user called Astroman that can post messages and he/it can't do any moderating. The only thing redarding us that Astroman can do is make moderators for the message board; so yesterday when I moved the old election posts into the dungeon dimensions I had to go to the admin (Astroman) account, make myself (Maljonic) a moderator then move the threads. After that I went back and changed my status to a normal user again, which is fine for what I was doing but it's going to be a bit of an arse to have to keep doing that until we get around to electing moderators, plus I can only do it while I'm here.

What does everyone think?

They are all good people BUT five of them are in the same timezone, that might prove unwise.

I'm fine with this as a stop-gap measure.

the new boards are not a new culture. you don't get new second chances, and you don't get a fresh slate. Tony's still a psychotic madman lurking under a "please be my friend" exterior. if they want to try to show up under another name and another identity, then we can't stop that at the source, but if they screw up under another name, that name gets blacklisted.

I do think we might need an antipodean representative or two and possibly Asia and somewhere midway between Asia and Western Europe when we consider voting for more moderators in the future.

Also I think it's good to do this now because we're going to need our rules posting as soon as possible, moderators can make them sticky so there's no excuses for not seeing them.

Let's make a poll to say: "Should these 5 people (list them) be made an interim moderator team?; Yes or No."

Okay I did it on this thread, go and vote. Can I implement them at the end of today though, say 10 pm, so it doesn't drag on and we can get moving with making sticky posts and stuff?

Okay it's done, I just made them all moderators of everything apart from the roleplaying group; we can spread them out a bit later or not if we like?
