Since all the Halloween goodies have been on sale in some of our local shops since the middle of July, it seems logical that Christmas goods will shortly be appearing. Ooops, I'll amend that statement as I took a break to go to the local supermarket; Christmas goods are already on sale.

As a timely reminder of the festive season and the attempts by the big chains to get in quick to supplement the board of directors' bonuses the theme for this competition is Shopping Days.

Closing date will be Sunday November 8th so you should have plenty of time to think of something.

The Rules:
- Photographs must be taken by you - no nicking them off the Web
- Photos must be taken specifically for the contest - get out there and get snapping!
- One picture per person.
- No excessive digital manipulation (i.e. adding a more dramatic sky from another photo to your picture, or creating negative images etc.). Cropping, and adjusting levels, contrast, saturation etc. is ok though.
- Equipment: Anything goes as long as the results can be seen from here.
- Voting takes place when the contest closes.
- The winner of the contest gets to choose the next subject.
- The entire community is allowed to vote for one picture in the voting thread

I very rarely get a chance to catch the Joculator in front of the camera but this shopping trip really caught his attention. A local micro brewery selling ales and more importantly... with free samples. Well he looked like he was enjoying the day out.

Would it help, people, if I extend the closing date for anther week?

Oh, I'd like to, but the weather is truly November-ish. And as there's no proper Halloween here, yet, there was no related shopping spree to take pictures of, either. Hm...

Here's me thinking a more open theme would be easier for everyone.

I didn't have any particular special days in mind. Just people shopping.

I must admit I have't spent a lot of time with a camera since I got involved with the NaNo writing so I'm struggling as well.

Would another extension to the closing date be helpful?

I'm so sorry, I've been busy as well. To make matters worse I lost my camera. But I did find it yesterday in a shopping bag (there's irony for ya.) So I do have an idea for a picture, I can have it ready this weekend, if the competition isn't closed yet. If it is I understand.
