I stumbled on to these pictures on a Russian site and rather than try and copy the link, I put them into an album.

What you will actually see is the work of a Russian glass worker (I think), but the scale is phenomenal.

Thanks for the link Kat, that's solved the mystery of who, what, when etc.
The online translator I used only managed a few words... glass (sand?)... shaping (carving?)... Vladimir somebody as creator? Looks like someone else was trying to claim the credit.
